We're repeating last year’s success! On Saturday, June 14, 2025, we invite the whole family to an exciting and experience-filled day at VilVite in Bergen.
Discover the wonders of nature through fun activities, workshops, and performances for the whole family – with insects, plants, and nature’s small heroes in the spotlight. A playful day of exploration, learning, and curiosity at VilVite!
The Wonderfull World of Nature is a themed day for the entire family with a focus on insects and nature’s many tiny heroes. Join fun workshops where you can examine insects and plants up close, see a show with exciting stories, and experience a concert performance about life in the flowering meadow. Through play and exploration, both young and old will gain a better understanding of how everything in nature is connected – and why it's important to take care of it. A day full of discovery and curiosity for the whole family!
All activities are drop-in and take place from 10:30–12:30 and 13:30–16:00. Science talks have their own schedules and are held in Norwegian.
Explore and play in the large exhibition – filled with exciting installations that spark curiosity in both young and old.
- Wild bees with NIBIO: Learn about wild bees in Norway and how you can help them with bee hotels.
- Concert performance: Get to know Stikk the wasp in a musical show about insects and nature conservation.
- Beekeeping: Peek inside a beehive and learn how honey is made.
- In the dark earth: Create figures of roots that once lived hidden underground and explore what lies beneath the surface.
- Let the bumblebee buzz: Find out how you can help bumblebees and other pollinators with La Humla Suse.
- Tiny crawlies: Study small insects under a magnifying glass and make your own bug.
- Moss workshop: Explore moss and join a quiz about nature's green sponge.
- PopVit – Majestic ants: Learn about the lives of ants and observe them through magnification.
- A handful of nature: Hold nature in your hand and learn about life above and below ground.
- Exhibition: See nature-inspired art from kindergartens and high school students.
- Insect show: Join a drawing show about the exciting childhood of insects.
- The wild pollinator count: Learn how to safely catch, study, and identify insects.
- Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly: Follow the Small Tortoiseshell’s journey from a tiny egg on a nettle leaf to a fully grown, colorful butterfly.

Insects
We have several insects at VilVite. They are decomposers that assist in the natural cycle by breaking down dead matter into free nutrients that are recycled in the ecosystem.
The large exhibition at VilVite in Bergen is filled with activities for both children and adults. Explore the new Energy City and generate energy with your whole body. Learn, play with water, and discover large and small cycles in nature. Step into a virtual reality world, or embark on an expedition into the deep sea. Increase your heart rate on the virtual climbing wall, and get to know what's happening inside your body.
