What is Sentrifugalskapen about?
Newton’s first law states that when an object (like your body) is in motion, it will continue moving in a straight line unless a force causes it to change direction or speed. Since Sentrifugalskapen is circular, your body can’t continue straight.
Who can try Sentrifugalskapen?
To ride the Sentrifugalskapen, these rules apply:
- You must be between 155 and 191 cm tall
- You must not weigh more than 114 kg
You cannot participate if you have: - Knee, ankle, shoulder, or back injuries
- Heart or respiratory issues
- If you are pregnant
In practice
A force acts from you toward the center of the large wheel. This force doesn’t pull you off the bike – it’s the force from the bike acting on you. This is called centripetal acceleration. The force that presses you into the seat as you zoom around is known as centrifugal force.
The force that always acts on us is gravity. The force acting on you is measured in g units, where 1 g is equal to the gravitational pull on an object from the earth’s mass.
When taking sharp turns, you also feel the centrifugal force on your body, pushing you outward in the curve.
Did you know…
Sentrifugalskapen is the only one of its kind in Europe.
